LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three Horizon League softball players earned All-Region accolades from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday. Loyola’s Lauren Moore and UIC’s Devin Miller were each voted to the Great Lakes Region Second Team, while Cleveland State’s Dara Toman earned a Midwest Region Second Team nod.

CHICAGO -- Former Detroit guard Ray McCallum (Beverly Hills, Mich./Detroit Country Day) will take part in the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Pre-Draft Camp this Thursday and Friday.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Continuing to set the bar in online streaming of intercollegiate athletics, the Horizon League Network and WebStream Sports have been nominated for a 2013 College Sports Media award, Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced on Thursday.

INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State and UIC both saw their seasons come to an end on Friday afternoon, each falling 4-0 in the NCAA Tennis Tournaments. The Vikings, making their fifth appearance in six years on the men’s side, were knocked off by No. 5 Ohio State; meanwhile, in their 15^th consecutive berth in the women’s tournament, the Flames were dropped, 4-0, by Northwestern.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State senior first baseman Dara Toman was named the Horizon League Softball Player of the Year, marking the third time in four years a Cleveland State player has collected the award. League co-champion UIC placed five players on the All-League First Team, in voting of the League’s coaches.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Green Bay freshman outfielder Marissa Michalkiewicz (Appleton, Wis./East) has been named Horizon League Softball Player of the Week, while Valparaiso freshman Taylor Weissenhofer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) has earned Horizon League Softball Pitcher of the Week honors, for the week of April 29-May 5.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Horizon League Softball Tournament will have a Windy City feel, as UIC and Loyola  matched each other with identical 16-5 conference records to share the Horizon League championship. By virtue of its season series victory, the Flames will host the conference tournament, which runs May 8-11.

For the last three years, Green Bay and Cleveland State have found themselves competing for a berth in the NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament. And while each of the matches had its share of drama, nothing compared to Sunday’s Horizon League Tournament championship, in which both teams had opportunities to win. In the end, though, second-seeded Cleveland State captured its fifth conference title in the last six years with a dramatic 4-3 victory over No. 1 Green Bay.

Perhaps in its previous 16 Horizon League Women’s Tennis Championship matches has UIC not been pushed to the brink. But on Sunday afternoon at the West Indy Racquet Club, Youngstown State took the Flames to edge before UIC held on for its 17^th consecutive conference title, 4-3.
