The records didn’t lie on Thursday night in Horizon League women’s basketball as all four games saw the team with the better conference record pick up the victory.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State sophomore and women's basketball student-athlete, Brandee Kelly will be receiving the 2011 Cleveland Clinic Courage Award on Thursday (Feb. 2) at the Greater Cleveland Sports Awards Banquet. Kelly, a native of St. Louis, Mo., is receiving the award after overcoming her battle with lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that affects cells of the immune system.

INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State’s Hermanus Botha and Butler’s Lauren Scotti are the Horizon League Men’s and Women’s Swimmer of the Week for Jan. 23-29.

With its continued success and best start in its 38-year-old program history, the No. 12/9 Green Bay (19-0, 9-0 HL) women’s basketball team is once again being recognized at the national level. Green Bay is featured in the Jan. 30 edition of The New York Times. 

INDIANAPOLIS -- Green Bay seniorJulie Wojta is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, for the period from Jan. 23-Jan. 29 after leading the Phoenix to two victories last week to stay undefeated.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Honoring student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, the Horizon League announced its 2011 Fall Academic All-League Teams on Monday. A total of 54 student-athletes from five fall sports were honored in balloting by the League’s faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors.

It was a good weekend to be on the road if you were a Horizon League women’s basketball team. On Thursday, three of the four conference games were won the visiting team, and the trend continued on Saturday as road teams captured four of the five games. Overall, seven of the nine league games played this weekend were won by the visiting team.

Home was not the place to be on Thursday Night in Horizon League women’s basketball play as road teams won three of the four games played. Green Bay, Milwaukee and Wright State all won on the road. Youngstown State was the only team to win on its home court.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Butler senior co-captain Ronald Nored (Homewood, Ala./Homewood) has been announced as one of ten finalists for the 2011-12 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.
