Loyola's Season Comes To End With 5-4 Loss To Cleveland State

Tarran Shaffer hit a game-tying, three-run homer in the fifth inning, but Erica McNew's RBI single in the sixth provided the difference as No. 2 seed Loyola University Chicago (28-19) saw its season come to an end with a 5-4 loss to fourth-seeded Cleveland State (22-26) this morning in the completion of a suspended game.

Loyola Drops Tourney Opener To Youngstown State, 2-0

Casey Crozier scattered five hits and struck out six to lead sixth-seeded Youngstown State (18-35) to a 2-0 victory over No. 2 seed Loyola University Chicago (28-18) this afternoon at the Horizon League Championship at Flames Field. The loss sends the Ramblers into the consolation bracket where they will face No. 4 seed Cleveland State at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

Loyola Earns Share Of Horizon League Title With 4-2 Win Over Wright State

Loyola University Chicago (28-17, 16-5 Horizon) scored three times in the third inning and held on for a 4-2 victory over visiting Wright State (17-35, 10-11 Horizon) in the regular-season finale for both teams today at Loyola Softball Park. With the win, the Ramblers earned a share of the Horizon League regular-season championship, and will be the No. 2 seed in next week's conference tournament, which will be played at UIC.

Women Win, Men Take Second At Horizon League Outdoor Championships

Bolstered by ten individual champions, the Loyola University Chicago women's track & field team won their first Horizon League Championship in program history this afternoon in Ypsilanti, Mich. at the Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The men's side turned in a valiant effort, finishing second behind Milwaukee but totaling eight individual champions. Loyola head track & field coach Randy Hasenbank, who was recognized as the Women's Coach of the Year, had plenty to say about the weekend.

Carajohn Defends Long Jump Title On Day Two Of Horizon League Championships

Candice Carajohn broke her own school record and set a new Horizon League record in the long jump, defending her title, as the Ramblers wrapped up the second day of the Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich. A total of 29 Loyola athletes qualified for tomorrow's finals as well, which easily surpasses last year's mark of 15.

Ciran Tosses Two-Hitter, Ramblers Deliver Clutch Hits In 2-1 Victory

Loyola University Chicago sophomore Amanda Ciran tossed a complete-game two-hitter, and Lauren Moore doubled home the go-ahead run in the fifth inning to cap the Ramblers' (27-17, 15-5 Horizon) rally for a 2-1 victory over Wright State (17-34, 10-10 Horizon) in the nightcap of a doubleheader at Loyola Softball Park today. With the win, Loyola maintains a share of first place in the Horizon League standings as it enters the final day of the regular season on Sunday.

Pinch-Hit Homer Rallies Wright State Past Loyola, 5-3

Kacie Rapshus' pinch-hit, three-run home run with two outs in the sixth inning gave visiting Wright State (17-33, 10-9 Horizon) a 5-3 victory over Loyola University Chicago (26-17, 14-5 Horizon) in game one of a doubleheader at Loyola Softball Park this afternoon. The loss is the Ramblers' first at home in conference play this season.

Loyola Shut Down By DePaul, 4-0

Kirsten Verdun tossed a complete-game three-hitter and struck out 15 to lead host DePaul (27-16) to a 4-0 victory over Loyola University Chicago (23-16) this afternoon at Cacciatore Stadium. The loss marked only the fourth time the Ramblers have been shut out this season.

The women's 4x1600m relay team shattered the school record in the event as the Loyola University Chicago track & field squads opened up competition at the 2013 Drake Relays this afternoon in Des Moines, Iowa.

Dara Toman's RBI double with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie and proved to be the difference in host Cleveland State's (16-20, 7-5 Horizon) 2-1 victory over Loyola University Chicago (23-15, 11-4 Horizon) in the nightcap of a doubleheader this afternoon at Viking Field. Despite the loss, the Ramblers still won their fourth series in Horizon League play.
