INDIANAPOLIS – Green Bay will be playing for a championship on Thursday after earning a thrilling 87-86 overtime win over Texas Southern at home Tuesday night in the semifinals of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT). Sandy Cohen made a jump shot with less than two seconds left in overtime to send the Phoenix to the CIT Championship game where they will face Marshall on Thursday in Huntington, W. Va.

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Sandy Cohen III hit the game-winning shot with 1.5 seconds remaining in overtime on Tuesday to send the Green Bay men’s basketball team to the championship game of the CIT and give the Phoenix an 87-86 victory over Texas Southern in the semifinals of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at the Kress Center.
Trailing by one with eight seconds remaining on the clock, GB inbounded the ball to Cohen who dribbled up the length off the floor, pulled up at the free-throw line and buried the jumper to send the Phoenix to the title game.
Cohen ended the game with 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting and tallied eight rebounds and seven assists. Trevian Bell finished with a career-high 21 points for Green Bay on nine made field goals. As a team, the Phoenix shot 54.3 percent from the floor (38-70).
In overtime, TSU took an 86-85 lead with eight seconds to play thanks to scoring on second-chance opportunities on back-to-back possessions, setting up Cohen’s late-game heroics.
The Phoenix will now travel to Huntington, W. Va. to face Marshall in the championship game of the CIT on Thursday, April 4 starting at 7 p.m. ET.
