Motor City Madness Three Stars of the Day | #HLWBB Statistics
INDIANAPOLIS – The top seeds prevailed on Tuesday in the #MotorCityMadness quarterfinals and top-seeded Wright State and fourth-seeded IUPUI punched their tickets to the 2019 Little Caesars Women’s Basketball Championship semifinals.

Top-seeded Wright State advanced to the #MotorCityMadness Semifinals with an 83-60 victory over No. 8 seed Oakland at the Nutter Center on Tuesday. Michal Miller led the Raiders with 22 points in the win. Taylor Jones scored 22 points for the Golden Grizzlies.

After a tight first quarter that saw the Raiders lead by just two points, 16-14, WSU pulled out to a 37-26 halftime lead. Miller totaled 14 of her 22 points in the first half, shooting 5-for-7 from the field.

In the third quarter, the Golden Grizzlies made it a six-point game, 49-43, with three minutes to play in the quarter after a Kahlaijah Dean 3-pointer. However, the regular season champions scored 15-consecutive points in the final three minutes to take a 64-44 lead heading into the final stanza.
 
The Raiders cruised in the final quarter to claim the 83-60 victory to advance to the 2019 Little Caesars Horizon League Women’s Basketball Championship semifinals on Monday at 1 p.m. ET.

Mackenzie Taylor added 16 points for the Raiders, while Emily Vogelpohl scored ten. All-Freshman Team selection Dean posted 13 points for the Golden Grizzlies in the loss. Oakland ends the year with a record of 6-24.
 

No. 4 IUPUI 60, Northern Kentucky 44
Fourth-seeded IUPUI moved on to the semifinals of the 2019 Little Caesars Women’s Basketball Championship on Tuesday after recording a 60-44 win over No. 5 seed Northern Kentucky inside The Jungle. Sydney Hall led the way for the Jags with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting, while Tamya Sims and Holly Hoopingarner both registered 10 points. The Norse were led by Taylor Clos with 13 points.

IUPUI held just a 24-22 advantage at halftime as neither shot higher than 33 percent from the floor after the first two quarters of action.

After taking a four-point lead heading into the final quarter, the Jags outscored NKU 22-12 in the fourth quarter to claim the 16-point victory. IUPUI finished the quarter shooting over 70 percent from the floor (8-11) with a pair of 3-pointers and also held an 11-2 rebounding advantage to pull away for the victory.

The Horizon League Player of the Year Macee Williams ended the game with eight points and seven rebounds.
IUPUI will face top-seeded Wright State in the first semifinal game of the 2019 Motor City Madness at 1 p.m. ET at
Little Caesars Arena.

The 2019 Little Caesars Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 5-6 at highest seeds and will culminate with the semifinal and championship games on March 11-12 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Tickets for the semifinals and championship are on-sale now. Once quarterfinal games conclude on March 5 and 6, fan section information for participating teams will be announced.
