Nike #HLMBB Players of the Week (March 4)
INDIANAPOLIS – Northern Kentucky’s Jalen Tate averaged 24 points and shot 61 percent from the floor to help the Norse claim a share of its second-straight regular season crown to be named Nike® #HLMBB Player of the Week, while Detroit Mercy’s Antoine Davis finished the week with 22.5 points per game and set a new NCAA freshman record to earn Nike® #HLMBB Freshmen of the Week as the Horizon League announced its final men’s basketball weekly honors of the season on Monday.

Jalen Tate | Northern Kentucky | RS Sophomore | Guard | Pickerington, Ohio
Tate averaged 24.0 points behind 61 percent shooting (19-of-31) from the floor and 71 percent (5-of-7) from 3-point range, while handing out 4.5 assists per game in leading Northern Kentucky to a share of its second-straight Horizon League regular season championship. The redshirt sophomore guard opened with 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the 65-55 road win over Milwaukee. For an encore, Tate exploded for a career-high 30 points on 11-of-19 shooting, including a 4-of-5 effort from 3-point range, in NKU’s 86-82 win at Green Bay. He also contributed six assists and four rebounds. Tate ranks among the nation’s leaders in field-goal percentage, checking it at 37th prior to Saturday’s game. He has upped his percentage to 57.4 on the season, including 59.7 percent in league play, which is the fourth-best heading into postseason play. The Norse are the No. 2 seed for this year’s Motor City Madness.
#HLMBB Freshman of the Week
Antoine Davis | Detroit Mercy | Freshman | Guard | Birmingham, Ala.
Davis averaged 22.5 points, 3.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds on the week, helping the Titans to a 1-1 ledger with a win over IUPUI. He started the week scoring 20 points with a team-best six assists and setting a record hitting four 3-pointers against the Jaguars, running his season total to 125 and breaking the NCAA freshman mark of 122 by Stephen Curry in 2006-07. He then added a team-high 25 points against UIC. He now has 128 triples on the year, closing in on the school record of 136 by Rashad Phillips in 2000-01. Davis heads into Motor City Madness as the nation’s third-leading scorer at 26.0 points per game. The Titans will travel to NKU for the quarterfinals of the Little Caesars Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship as the No. 7 seed.
