INDIANAPOLIS – Week 9 of the #HLMBB season came to a close on Sunday with IUPUI and UIC each recording home victories creating a three-way tie for third place in the standings between the Flames, Green Bay and Oakland at 9-7. Also, based on this week’s results, Northern Kentucky is the second team to secure a home game during the quarterfinals of Motor City Madness.

The Jaguars pulled back to .500 in HL play on Sunday with a 79-68 home win over Green Bay. IUPUI shot 55 percent from 3-point range to improve to 8-8. Grant Weatherford scored a game-high 21 points on 5-of-6 shooting from long range and Camron Justice finished with 18 points on four triples. Green Bay’s ShanQuan Hemphill scored a team-best 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor and Sandy Cohen III registered 16 points and eight rebounds. With the loss, the Phoenix are now tied for third place in the #HLMBB standings at 9-7.

UIC 74, Milwaukee 59
UIC jumped back into a tie for third place in the Horizon League standings after recording a 74-59 win at home. The Flames shot 50 percent from the floor led by Godwin Boahen finishing with 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Marcus Ottey added 14 points and eight rebounds and Tarkus Ferguson chipped in 12 points and eight assists. Milwaukee was led by DeAndre Abram with 15 points, while Vance Johnson and Jake Wright each tallied 14 points as the Panthers drop to 4-12 in HL play. The Flames are now 9-7 on the season with a pivotal matchup against Oakland coming up next week.

MOTOR CITY MADNESS
The 2019 Little Caesars Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 5-6 at highest seeds and will culminate with the semifinal and championship games on March 11-12 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Tickets for the semifinals and championship are on-sale now. Once quarterfinal games conclude on March 5 and 6, fan section information for participating teams will be announced.
