INDIANAPOLIS – Saturday’s #HLMBB action is in the books with Wright State securing a home game in the quarterfinals of Motor City Madness, Oakland clinching the series sweep of Metro Series rival Detroit Mercy and Cleveland State snapping Northern Kentucky’s 20-game home winning streak.

The Golden Grizzlies grabbed sole possession of fourth place in the Horizon League standings with a convincing 95-75 win over Metro Series rival Detroit Mercy in front of a record-setting crowd in the Athletics Center O’rena. Oakland shot 58 percent (32-55) from the floor, including 50 percent from long range (12-24) to earn the series sweep against the Titans. Xavier Hill-Mais scored 22 of his game-high 29 points in the second half and freshman Braden Norris seven 3-pointers and registered 10 assists. Detroit Mercy’s Antoine Davis collected 20 points and six assists and is now just two triples away from setting the NCAA freshman 3-point record. With the win, Oakland improves to 9-7 in HL play, while Detroit Mercy falls to 7-9.

Wright State 82, Youngstown State 54
Wright State extended its winning streak to six games on Saturday and clinched a home game during the quarterfinals of Motor City Madness after defeating Youngstown State, 82-54. The Raiders used a strong opening half to earn the victory outscoring the Penguins 49-27. Loudon Love scored a game-high 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting and Mark Hughes recorded 14 points on four 3-pointers. Michael Akuchie led the way for YSU with 12 points and four rebounds as Youngstown State now drops to 8-9 in HL play. WSU is now 12-4 in #HLMBB play and in sole possession of first place heading into the final week of action.

Cleveland State 83, Northern Kentucky 77
Northern Kentucky’s 20-game home winning streak came to an end on Saturday thanks to Cleveland State in the final regular-season home game at BB&T Arena. CSU shot 50.8 percent from the field including 60 percent from inside the arc in the 83-77 win. Jaalam Hill registered a double-double for the Vikings with a team-high 26 points and 12 rebounds and Tyree Appleby added 15 points and eight assists. NKU senior Drew McDonald finished with 22 points and seven rebounds, while Jalen Tate registered 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. The Norse drop to second place in the HL standings with a record of 11-5.

MOTOR CITY MADNESS
