INDIANAPOLIS – Week 8 of the #HLMBB season came to a close on Saturday with three home teams, Green Bay, Youngstown State and Cleveland State, picking up victories and Oakland recording the only road win.

GAME RECAPS
Green Bay 82, Detroit Mercy 73
Green Bay pulled into a tie for third place are claiming its second win of the week, defeating Detroit Mercy at home 82-73. The Phoenix pulled to 8-6 in HL play as they shot almost 52 percent from the field led by Sandy Cohen III almost registering a triple-double with 23 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists, while JayQuan McCloud hit six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 26 points. The Titans were led by Antoine Davis with 22 points on five triples and Josh McFolley with 19 points. Detroit Mercy drops below .500 in HL play at 7-8 with two weeks to play.
Youngstown State 81, UIC 73
The Penguins continue to roll as they have now won six games in a row and pull into a tie for fifth place at 8-7 in League play after an 81-73 victory over UIC on Saturday. Freshman Darius Quisenberry led the way for Youngstown State with 37 points on 10 made field goals and 14 made free throws. Quisenberry’s performance marks the program's first 35-point game by a freshman in 40 years, and the Penguins have won six straight games for the first time since 1997-98. The Flames had four players score in double figures with Godwin Boahen leading the way with 20 points and Marcus Ottey adding 18. The loss snaps UIC’s four-game winning streak and moves them into a tie for third place at 8-6.
Oakland 89, Milwaukee 73
The Golden Grizzlies snapped a three-game losing skid on Saturday after picking up a 89-73 road win over Milwaukee. Oakland shot over 52 percent in the game boasted by a 9-for-12 shooting performance by Brad Brechting as he finished with a team-high 21 points. Tray Maddox and Karmari Newman both added 17 points for Oakland. Milwaukee’s Vance Johnson ended the night with 25 points and nine rebounds and Darius Roy registered 22 points. Oakland stays above .500 with the win at 8-7, while MKE drops to 4-10 in HL play.
Cleveland State 89, IUPUI 86
Cleveland State ended the weekend with a thrilling 89-86 win at home over IUPUI. Tyree Appleby led the way for the Vikings with 26 points and 11 assists and sealed the game for CSU with clutch free throws down the stretch. Cleveland State also had good performances by Jaalam Hill and Rashad Williams who both score 18 points. IUPUI finished with five players in double figures as D.J. McCall finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Evan Hall also scored 18 points and added five rebounds and three assists.

MOTOR CITY MADNESS
The 2019 Little Caesars Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 5-6 at highest seeds and will culminate with the semifinal and championship games on March 11-12 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Tickets for the semifinals and championship are on-sale now. Once quarterfinal games conclude on March 5 and 6, fan section information for participating teams will be announced.
