INDIANAPOLIS – The second week of Horizon League Women’s Basketball plays began on Thursday as Youngstown State and Wright State improved to 3-0 in League play while IUPUI and Northern Kentucky each picked up their second #HLWBB wins of the season.

Youngstown State 81, UIC 29
Youngstown State improved to 3-0 in #HLWBB play after a home victory over UIC on Thursday, 81-29. Mary Dunn posted a double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds for the Penguins while teammate Alison Smolinski added 20 points including her 200th career three-point field goal. The Flames were led by eight points and eight rebounds from Jada Nneji.

IUPUI 75, Cleveland State 50
IUPUI picked up its second #HLWBB win of the season on Thursday, topping Cleveland State 75-50 in Ohio. The Jags were led by Preseason Player of the Year Macee Williams who posted 23 points, shooting 11-14 from the floor, adding nine rebounds. Jade Ely led the Vikings with 14 points as CSU dropped to 2-1 in League play.

Wright State 85, Green Bay 67
Wright State won its third straight #HLWBB game and moved to 3-0 on Thursday, defeating Green Bay, 85-67 at the Nutter Center. Mackenzie Taylor paced the Raiders with 18 points and Michal Miller added 16 more for WSU. Freshman Hailey Oskey was the leading scorer for the Phoenix with 16 points, going 5-5 from the field.

Northern Kentucky 55, Milwaukee 54
Kailey Coffey made two free throws with four seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to give NKU a 55-54 home win over visiting Milwaukee. Coffey finished with ten points, while Ally Niece added eleven to help the Norse improve to 2-1 in League play. Lizzie Odegard and Akaylah Hayes led the Panthers with ten points each.

MOTOR CITY MADNESS
The 2019 Little Caesars Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 5-6 and will culminate with the semifinal and championship games on March 11-12 at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena. The 2019 men’s and women’s championship games will take place on Tuesday, March 12 with the men playing at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN or ESPN2 and the women starting at noon ET on ESPNU. Tickets for the semifinals and championship go on-sale on February 1. Once quarterfinal games conclude on March 5 and 6, fan section information for participating teams will be announced.
