GAME RECAPS
Detroit Mercy 79, Wright State 58
Antoine Davis scored 48 points in his first Horizon League game inside Calihan Hall and made 10 3-pointers to lead Detroit Mercy to a win over Wright State on Thursday, 79-58. Davis fell one-point shy of tying the school’s single-game point record, while having the third-most points in Division I this season and the most against a Division I opponent. It marks the most points scored in a League contest since YSU’s Cameron Morse tallied 44 in 2017. His 10 triples ties a school record that he already set this season. The Raiders were led by Loudon Love with 15 points and Mark Hughes with 13 as WSU falls to 1-2 in HL play.
Oakland 76, Northern Kentucky 74
The Golden Grizzlies remained perfect in League play on Thursday after a thrilling 76-74 come-from-behind win over the Norse at home. Oakland trailed by as many as 10 points in the second half but got a big performance from Xavier Hill-Mais who finished with 32 points on 11-of-16 shooting with four 3-pointers. Tyler Sharpe and Jalen Tate netted 14 points, while Drew McDonald recorded 13 points and nine rebounds as NKU suffered its first League loss.
Milwaukee 83, Cleveland State 76
Milwaukee trailed by 10 points at half, but went on to score 55 points in the second half to grab its first #HLMBB win of the season in comeback fashion, 83-76, over Cleveland State. Darius Roy led the Panthers with 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting, while Jake Wright added 16 by going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Tyree Appleby led the charge for the Vikings with 33 points, his second 30-point performance this season.
Green Bay 99, Youngstown State 93 (OT)
The Phoenix needed overtime but fought off a tough Penguins squad to improve to 2-0 in Horizon League play with a 99-93 win at home. JayQuan McCloud posted 24 points with five assists and Kameron Hankerson added 19 points with four 3-pointers for Green Bay.
