Nike #HLMBB Players of the Week (January 28)
INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State’s Loudon Love nearly averaged a double-double as the Raiders pulled into second place in the HL standings with two wins to be named Nike® #HLMBB Player of the Week, while Cleveland State’s Rashad Williams put up 20 points off the bench to lead the Vikings to a win to close out the first half of the League season to earn Nike® #HLMBB Freshmen of the Week as the Horizon League announced its men’s basketball weekly honors on Monday.
#HLMBB Player of the Week
Loudon Love | Wright State | Sophomore | Center | Geneva, Ill.
Love picks up his first weekly honor of the season after averaging 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game last week as the Raiders went 2-0 and finished the first half of the #HLMBB season in second place with a 6-3 mark. He began the week by scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 boards in a 56-54 win over Milwaukee at home on Thursday. Love followed that performance on Saturday against Green Bay by registering 18 points and eight rebounds in an 87-75 victory. He finished the week shooting 61 percent (14-of-23) from the floor and also tallied two blocks.
#HLMBB Freshman of the Week
Rashad Williams | Cleveland State | Freshman | Guard | Detroit, Mich.
Williams earns his second #HLMBB Freshman of the Week honor after scoring 20 points off the bench to help lead Cleveland State to its first Horizon League victory of the season against Youngstown State on Saturday. Williams was 7-of-12 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the 3-point line and also added three rebounds and an assist. It marked his third 20-point game of the season and his second in the last three games. His six triples were one shy of tying his own freshman school record for 3-pointers made in a game.
