ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Oakland University guard Kendrick Nunn has agreed to a partially guaranteed deal with the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors. Nunn will be the third Oakland player to join an NBA organization in the last seven years alongside Kay Felder (2016, 54th overall to Cleveland Cavaliers) and Keith Benson (2011, 48th overall to Atlanta Hawks).
The Chicago, Ill. native had a stellar senior campaign in his lone season with the Golden Grizzlies, being named the Horizon League's Player of the Year and earned first team all-league honors. He led the NCAA in three-point field goals per game at 4.47, an Oakland single-season school record, while ranking second in points per game at 25.9 which was also the sixth-highest in a season in Oakland history. He scored 30 points or more in 11 games during the regular season, also tops in the NCAA.
Nunn was also named to the 2017-18 Lou Henson All-American list and was one of five finalists for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award given to the top shooting guard in Division I men's college basketball.
He ranked second nationally in three-pointers made (134) and finished the season scoring 777 points, the second-most in a season in school history.
Nunn recorded career highs this past season in points (39 vs. Green Bay on Feb. 22), assists (eight vs. Cleveland State on Jan. 12), blocks (three, three times), field goals made (12, three times), three-point field goals made (eight vs. Detroit Mercy on Jan. 20 and Green Bay on Dec. 30) and free throws made (13 vs. UIC on Feb. 2).
Last season, Golden State finished second in the Western Conference at 58-24, and defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in a four-game sweep to win their third NBA title in four seasons.
