INDIANAPOLIS- Wright State’s Chelsea Welch led #HLWBB with 23.5 points per game in two wins this week. Welch is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season. Youngstown State freshman Chelsea Olson filled up the stat sheet this week, averaging 15 points, eight rebounds and 4.5 assists per game earning her Freshman of the Week honors for the fourth straight week.

Chelsea Welch led the league with 23.5 points per game this week, adding 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals in two home wins for the Raiders. The senior posted a double-double of 30 points and 11 rebounds along with five assists and two steals and one block versus Oakland. The guard posted 17 points against Detroit Mercy with three steals and two assists.

Chelsea Olson showcased her versatility by averaging 15 points, 8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 3s in helping the Penguins to a pair of road wins this week. The freshman was two assists shy of becoming just the second freshman in the country this season to post a triple-double when she filled the box score with 17 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 blocks at UIC. All of those totals were game highs, and she tied for game-high honors with three 3-pointers. The last triple-double by a Horizon League player was in 2013. The Wisconsin native scored 13 points with game highs of three 3-pointers and three steals in a three-point win at IUPUI. YSU is the only Horizon League team other than Green Bay to beat IUPUI this season. Olson set new career highs in rebounds, assists and blocks at UIC, and she had a career-best in steals at IUPUI.
