INDIANAPOLIS We have finally reached the month of December and Horizon League men’s basketball is in full swing with Northern Kentucky and Green Bay each going 2-0 last week.

#HLMBB NEWS & NOTES
• Green Bay picked up a big win at home over the weekend defeating Belmont 100-92. Belmont, which was handed its first loss of the season by the Phoenix, entered the game ranked No. 9 in the NCAA's new NET (NCAA Evaluation Tool) ranking. The Phoenix also earned win over Northern Illinois to push their record to 5-3.
• Northern Kentucky continues its strong start after earning a road win at Morehead State, followed by a convincing 78-60 victory over UMBC is home. The Norse are 8-1 on the season and are tops in the HL in scoring defense allowing 62.8 points per game and also second in scoring offense with 82.0 points.
• Antoine Davis is second in the country in scoring at 29.6 points per game as he leads all of Division I with 46 total 3-pointers and 5.8 triples per contest.
• The Norse made their way into the mid-major top-25 poll for the second time this season as NKU comes in at No. 23. Wright State and Green Bay are also receiving votes in the poll.
• Wright State’s Loudon Love and Northern Kentucky’s Drew McDonald were selected to the 2018-19 Lou Henson Award Watch List, presented annually to the nation's top mid-major player in Division I College Basketball.
• In addition, McDonald has been selected to the Naismith Hall of Fame's Karl Malone Award Watch List, presented to the nation's top power-forward and one of 30 of candidates for the Senior CLASS Award, given to a student-athlete in their final year of eligibility that has notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
• #HLMBB have been prolific from long range early this season as seven teams are averaging 9.0 or more treys per game and rank in the top-100 in 3-pointers made per game with Detroit Mercy ranking 12th with 11.0 and UIC at 22nd at 10.3. In addition, the HL has two teams shooting over 40 percent from long range with Detroit Mercy (40.4) and Oakland (40.0).
• Oakland has proved to be early on one of the best in the nation at holding on to the ball and also sharing it. The Golden Grizzlies are tops in the NCAA in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.03, sixth in the country in assists per game (19.8) and ninth in the NCAA in turnovers per game (9.8). Freshman Braden Norris if fifth in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio at 5.43.
