INDIANAPOLIS – The first week of the #HLWBB season is in the books and four teams have perfect records heading into week two.
#HLWBB NEWS & NOTES
• IUPUI is off to a strong start this season, with a 3-0 record, highlighted by a 66-58 road victory at Ole Miss and a one-point win over UT-Martin in the Jungle.
• Youngstown State is also undefeated so far this season (3-0) with a road victory over ACC opponent Pittsburgh, 64-55 and an overtime home victory over Robert Morris.
•UIC boasts the League’s top scorer so far this season as senior Brittany Byrd dropped 28 points in the Flames’ season opening triumph over Valparaiso. Byrd’s points-per-game currently rank eighth nationally.
•Two players, Wright State’s Tyler Frierson (11.0) and Youngstown State’s Chelsea Olson (11.3) are averaging double digit rebounds this season.
• Cleveland State ranks fourth in the country with 149 total rebounds.
• Detroit Mercy ranks fifth in the nation with 17 blocked shots this season.
