(Jan. 27, 2018) — The home teams went 3-0 on Saturday night, with Green Bay, Milwaukee, and UIC earning victories. Green Bay’s Khalil Small was the league’s high scorer, tallying a game-high 27 points in the Phoenix’s 85-67 win over Youngstown State. Milwaukee limited Cleveland State to 47 points in a 70-47 rout, with sophomore Bryce Nze recording 18 points and 11 rebounds. Three UIC players scored in double figures, including sophomore Marcus Ottey (18 points), as the Flames defeated IUPUI, 71-62.

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Notching its second-straight Horizon League victory in the team's final game at the Resch Center this season, Green Bay cruised to an 85-67 win over Youngstown State on Saturday afternoon. Senior Khalil Small led the Phoenix with 27 points, his seventh 20-plus point scoring effort in his last nine games overall. The Phoenix (10-15, 5-7 HL) knocked down 11 3-pointers in the win, avenging its earlier defeat to the Penguins (6-17, 4-6 HL) in Ohio. GB has now won 3 of its last 5 games, after dropping five in a row after starting 2-0.

Another strong defensive showing carries Milwaukee past CSU

MILWAUKEE — The defense of the Milwaukee men's basketball team was at it again, holding Cleveland State to 34 percent shooting in a 70-47 victory Saturday afternoon at UWM Panther Arena. The Panthers (12-12, 5-6 Horizon League) knocked off the Vikings (5-18, 2-8 Horizon League) to post their first three-game winning streak of the season. The defense led the way, holding its third straight opponent under 40 percent from the floor.

Flames turn up the heat in second half, beat IUPUI

CHICAGO — The UIC Flames (11-11, 6-3 HL) used a 12-point run in the second half to seize control of the game in an eventual 71-62 win over IUPUI (7-14, 4-6 HL) Saturday afternoon at UIC Pavilion. Jordan Blount's career high 14 rebounds and constant defensive pressure helped the Flames overcome an eight-point deficit and sweep their newest Horizon League rival. Marcus Ottey scored 18 points to tie for game-high honors. Dikembe Dixson (15) and Tai Odiase(11) joined him in double figures. UIC added to its best start to conference play since 2002-03, and has won six of its last seven games.
