INDIANAPOLIS — After helping Green Bay to an unbeaten, conference-opening weekend,
Sandy Cohen III and
PJ Pipes were tabbed Horizon League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively.

In just his second week of competition this season, redshirt-junior guard Sandy Cohen III averaged 20.5 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals en route to leading Green Bay to a 2-0 weekend, including a one-point upset of league favorite Oakland. Cohen matched a career high with 24 points in the Phoenix’s 95-83 victory over Detroit Mercy on Thursday, connecting on a career-best nine field goals, including three triples (3-7 3FG). Two nights later, he helped Green Bay best Oakland, 80-79, by registering his first career double-double with a 17-point, 12-rebound performance. Cohen shot 47 percent from the field and 82 percent from the charity stripe over the two-game span and converted four of his eight attempts from 3-point range.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Helping Green Bay to a 2-0 record, freshman guard PJ Pipes shot a blistering 64 percent from the field while averaging 11.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Pipes scored 13 points in the Phoenix’s 95-83 victory over Detroit Mercy on Thursday before scoring 10 points in Saturday’s 80-79 win over Oakland. The Woodridge, Ill., native connected on all three of his attempts from long range in the two games and shot 6-of-7 from the foul line. Pipes has scored in double figures in each of Green Bay’s last six contests.
