Horizon League Women’s Basketball Players of the Week (November 20)

INDIANAPOLIS- Wright State’s Chelsea Welch totaled 51 points this week, including a career high 36 at #23 Missouri this week. Welch is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Detroit Mercy’s Lexey Tobel put up 16 points in her home debut as a Titan, earning her Freshman of the Week honors.

Chelsea Welch had a total 51 points in two games as the Raiders defeated Eastern Illinois and nearly upset #23 Missouri. She had a career high 36 points at Missouri, going 11 of 18 from the field and 10 of 10 from the line. For the two games, she totaled 51 points and 11 rebounds with 12 assists and two steals. She shot 16-29 FG, 4-6 from three and 15-15 from the line. Welch's 36 points were also the most since KC Elkin had 37 against Valparaiso in March 8, 2014 and most by a Raider on the road since Kim Demmings' 36 at Oakland on February 18, 2014.

Lexey Tobel scored 16 points, draining five 3-pointers, adding two blocks and two rebounds in an 85-81 loss to Bowling Green on Monday. The freshman sank 5-of-8 shots from the field and beyond the arc in the contest. The 16 points were the most by a Titan freshman in their home debut since 2012. The Michigan nateive led the team in minutes played (35) during the game.
