INDIANAPOLIS — In Sunday’s Horizon League men’s basketball action, Detroit Mercy and Milwaukee each benefited from late-game heroics en route to victory, while Northern Kentucky, conversely, fell in the closing minutes to Vermont in the final of the Islands of the Bahamas Showcase. Detroit Mercy freshman point guard Jermaine Jackson hit two threes in the final 15 seconds of regulation to force overtime versus Houston Baptist. The Titans, competing in the 2K Classic in Nashville, Tenn., eventually prevailed, 116-109. For Milwaukee, a game-winning shot by Jeremy Johnson capped a 19-point comeback over Elon as the Panthers captured the Black & Gold Shootout title.

Allen's career-high 39 points fuels Titan comeback over Houston Baptist

NASHVILLE -- Sophomore Corey Allen set a career record as well as Curb Event Center facility record with 39 points and freshman Jermaine Jackson Jr., sent the game into overtime with a last-second triple as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team raced past Houston Baptist, 116-109, on Sunday afternoon. The Titans (2-2) were down by five, 94-89, with 15 seconds left in regulation when Jackson Jr., hit a three to make it a two-point game, 94-92, with 10 seconds on the clock. After a missed free throw from Houston Baptist (1-3), the Titans raced down the court with no timeout and Jackson Jr., went up for another three, nailing it and sending the game into the extra session.

Panthers erase 19-point deficit on Johnson's late winner

MILWAUKEE -- Jeremy Johnson hit the game-winning shot with 0.9 seconds on the clock to cap a 19-point comeback and send the Milwaukee men's basketball team to a thrilling 72-71 victory over Elon Sunday afternoon at UWM Panther Arena. The Panthers (4-1) scored the final six points of the contest, handing the Phoenix (3-2) the loss when Johnson grabbed a rebound in the lane off a missed UWM jumper and buried the putback with a defender in his face.

Late shot lifts Vermont past @NKUNorseMBB

NASSAU, Bahamas -- The Northern Kentucky men's basketball team fell to Vermont on Sunday evening by a final score of 66-64. The Catamounts converted a shot with three seconds left in the game to get the win. This was NKU's first loss of the season.
