What's up Horizon League faithful!



Just updating everyone on a successful weekend where the Raiders clinched the #1 seed for the upcoming Horizon League Baseball Championship! Although this weekend was sort of bittersweet with it being the last home games for our seniors, we managed to send them out right with a pair of doubleheader sweeps of Cleveland State and Youngstown State.

After a rocky weekend, your Wright State Raiders still find themselves in the pole position, leading Milwaukee in the quest for the #1 seed and regular season championship.

It is the week before finals so this is going to be a shortened version. First, lets get all of the statistics out of the way.



This weekend, just about everyone was in action. Cleveland State clinched the #1 seed and the honor of hosting the tournament. So, see everyone in Cleveland next week!

As the season hits yet another checkpoint with the beginning of May, it also reminds us that the Horizon League Tournament in Gary, Indiana is getting closer and closer. With that being said, these crucial League games take on a greater importance in regard to seeding for the HL tourney.

As the season winds down, many of the teams in the Horizon League find themselves with a chance to win a League title. Wright State currently sits atop the standings, but we are not far behind. Only two games separate us at the moment, and as we head into our weekend series with Cleveland State, we are confident in our abilities to make up that ground.

It is that time of year again. Finals are nearing and only 2 and a half weeks of softball left!



This week I would like to congratulate my teammate, Amanda Macenko, for winning the honor of Horizon League Pitcher of the Week. She went 5-1 in the circle this past week and earned her 30th win of the season.

We brought 23 competitors to the Drake Relays this past weekend and overall it was a decent showing. The only people to do open events were Beth Zimmerman and Samia Taylor in the triple jump, and myself in the high jump. Beth had a respectable jump of 12.25m (40’3.25") but that failed to get her into finals. I jumped 2.10m (6’10.75") for the second meet in a row and tied for ninth place.

Hope everyone had a great week, and after a successful midweek victory and four huge Horizon League games on the road, I’m happy to say the Raiders had a great week as well.

This is the first of a weekly blog entry that I, Lia Gordon, will be writing every week throughout the rest of the softball season. So, I hope you enjoy what I have prepared!
