On the final day of the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Eastern Michigan University's Rynearson Stadium, Loyola rallied to win the women's title while Milwaukee carried a commanding lead to the men's championship.

Several records were broken on the second day of the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships, including both multi-event records falling to Milwaukee athletes.

Valparaiso, Milwaukee and Loyola all notched individual victories on Friday during the first day of competition at the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships inside Eastern Michigan University's Rynearson Stadium.

UIC senior Anthony Hollingsworth (Riverdale, Ill.) and Loyola senior Gina Valgoi (Detroit, Mich.) have been named the final Horizon League Runners of the Week for the 2013 season. It is the first honor of the outdoor season for Hollingsworth and the second for Valgoi.

Milwaukee senior Dan Simon (Bristol, Wis.) has been named the Horizon League men's outdoor field Athlete of the Week while fellow Panthers senior Samia Taylor (Madison, Wis.) and Loyola senior Candice Carajohn (Seneca, Ill.) are co-honorees on the women's side. It is the second award of the season for both Simon and Carajohn, who repeat after being honored last week. The award is the first of the season for Taylor.

Loyola senior Declan Murray (Strongsville, Ohio) and Milwaukee freshman Michelle Garner (Greenfield, Wis.) have been named the Horizon League Runners of the Week. It is the first honor of the outdoor season for either runner.

Honoring student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, the Horizon League announced its 2012-13 Winter Academic All-League Teams on Monday. A total of 75 student-athletes from six winter sports were honored in balloting by the League’s faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors.

In an event unprecidented this season, Loyola has swept all four weekly Horizon League track and field Athletes of the Week awards after a brilliant performance at the Benedictine Eagle Invitational. Sophomore Sam Penzenstadler (Oshkosh, Wis.) won his second Runner of the Week honor for the outdoor season while freshman Krista Kuss (Pittsburgh, Pa.) won the first of her career. Senior Paul Yavonic (Highland, Mich.) and sophomore Alison Szykowny (Palos Heights, Ill.) each won their first Field Athlete of the Week honor for the outdoor season.

Milwaukee sophomore Jordan Schmidt (Kewaunee, Wis.) and Youngstown State freshman Nina Grambling (Milwaukee, Wis.) have been  named the Horizon League Runners of the Week. It it the first honor of the outdoor season for either runner.
