SPRINGBORO, Ohio -- Wright State tennis coach Sean McCaffrey picked up his 200th career win and 100th at WSU Wednesday afternoon as the men's team defeated Northern Kentucky 5-2 at the South Regency Tennis Center.

Just one week of games remains in the Horizon League season, and the final week promises to be full of excitement after Wright State stayed in the running for a bye, while Milwaukee celebrated its seniors with a win on Tuesday night.

Four teams are in action tonight in the final tune-up before the conference schedule goes on a brief hiatus when all nine Horizon League men's basketball teams play in ESPN's Ramada BracketBusters series this weekend.

INDIANAPOLIS – Valparaiso is the favorite to win the 2013 Horizon League Baseball Championship in balloting by the conference’s five head coaches.  The Crusaders, who captured last season’s regular season and tournament title, received three first place votes. Milwaukee, which finished second in the poll, received the other two first place votes.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State’s Davynn Peffer and Youngstown State’s Samantha Roberts are the Horizon League Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week for Feb. 4-10.

The top three teams in the Horizon League men's basketball standings are all in action tonight, highlighted by a matchup between Valparaiso and Wright State.

The hype can begin. After suffering a defeat in the Horizon League Championship last year on its home court, Valparaiso has a chance close in on putting the conference tournament in the ARC once more. Of course, with wins tonight, the stage is set for Detroit to visit Valparaiso on Saturday with a share of the conference title on the line.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Valparaiso senior forward Ryan Broekhoff (Frankston, Victoria, Australia/Australia Institute of Sport) has been named the Horizon League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Valparaiso junior forward Bobby Capobianco [Loveland, Ohio/Loveland (Indiana)] and Wright State junior forward Jerran Young [Cedar Hill, Texas/Cedar Hill (McLennan CC)] have been named the co-Newcomers of the Week, for the week of Feb. 4-10. The award is the third for Broekhoff this season, while Young is collecting the honor for the second time this season and Capobianco for the first time in his career.

While one team gained a measure of separation on the Horizon League ladder on Saturday, two other results helped ensure that the last three weeks of conference play will result in scoreboard-watching and monitoring of tie-breakers. By the end of the day, Valparaiso had opened a 1.5 game lead, with Wright State and Green Bay bunching the standings with victories.
