UIC senior Anthony Hollingsworth (Riverdale, Ill.) and Loyola senior Gina Valgoi (Detroit, Mich.) have been named the final Horizon League Runners of the Week for the 2013 season. It is the first honor of the outdoor season for Hollingsworth and the second for Valgoi.

Milwaukee senior Dan Simon (Bristol, Wis.) has been named the Horizon League men's outdoor field Athlete of the Week while fellow Panthers senior Samia Taylor (Madison, Wis.) and Loyola senior Candice Carajohn (Seneca, Ill.) are co-honorees on the women's side. It is the second award of the season for both Simon and Carajohn, who repeat after being honored last week. The award is the first of the season for Taylor.

INDIANAPOLIS – Horizon League men’s tennis champion Cleveland State will travel to Ohio State for a first round match in the NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament. On the women’s side, 17-time conference champion UIC will meet Northwestern, it was announced on Tuesday night.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Former Milwaukee forward Demetrius Harris' NFL dream will start with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Wright State freshman Hanna Floyd and junior Krystian DeWitt have been named the Horizon League Hitter of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. It is the first award of the season for Floyd and the second for DeWitt.

Valparaiso senior Chris DeBoo (Chula Vista, Calif.) has been named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week while fellow Crusaders senior John Loeffler (Burnsville, Minn.) and Milwaukee junior Sam Koenig (Prairie du Sac, Wis.) are the Co-Hitters of the Week. It is the first honor of the season for all three players.

UIC seniors Joey Begel and Kara Komp have been named the Horizon League's Scholar-Athletes of the Month for March.

For the last three years, Green Bay and Cleveland State have found themselves competing for a berth in the NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament. And while each of the matches had its share of drama, nothing compared to Sunday’s Horizon League Tournament championship, in which both teams had opportunities to win. In the end, though, second-seeded Cleveland State captured its fifth conference title in the last six years with a dramatic 4-3 victory over No. 1 Green Bay.

The Detroit women’s golf team and the Valparaiso men’s golf team began the third and final round in first place and were still there at the end of the day as the squads captured the 2013 Horizon League Golf Championships held at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

Perhaps in its previous 16 Horizon League Women’s Tennis Championship matches has UIC not been pushed to the brink. But on Sunday afternoon at the West Indy Racquet Club, Youngstown State took the Flames to edge before UIC held on for its 17^th consecutive conference title, 4-3.
