Welcome to the 2013 Horizon League Bracket Challenges. 2013 Horizon League Bracket Challenges (the "Sweepstakes") are online competitions based on results of the 2013 Horizon League Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments (the "Tournament(s)"). On March 2, 2013, after the conclusion of the final conference regular-season game, the Horizon League (the "HL") will seed its men's basketball teams for the Men's Basketball Tournament in accordance with HL men's basketball procedures and on March 3, 2013, after the conclusion of the final conference regular-season game, the HL will seed its women's basketball teams for the Women's Basketball Tournament in accordance with HL women's basketball procedures. Participants will attempt to select the winners of all the games of the Tournament(s). Participants will earn points by correctly predicting the winning teams in the games of the Tournament. All selections must be made prior to the start of the first game in each tournament as outlined in these rules. The number of points awarded for each correct pick of a winning game of the Tournament will increase with each round of the Tournament. A prediction of the combined score in the final game of each tournament will serve to help break scoring ties. The exact number of points awarded in this Sweepstakes is set forth in the Making Picks section below. Two grand prizes (the "Grand Prizes") will be awarded. The Grand Prizes will be awarded to the top-scoring participant in each Sweepstakes or to a randomly-selected participant in the event of a tie score, as described in the Prizes section of these Official Rules.
The Sweepstakes for the men's Sweepstakes will begin on Saturday, March 2, 2013 and will run through the final game of the Tournament scheduled for March 12, 2013.
The Sweepstakes for the women's Sweepstakes will begin on Saturday, March 9, 2013 and will run through the final game of the Tournament scheduled for March 17, 2013.
Participants can pre-register for event notification.
The Sweepstakes is FREE to play. No purchase or entry fee necessary to enter or win.
The HL will serve as the Administrator of Sweepstakes and will be responsible for resolving any disputes that arise regarding violations of the rules.
To be eligible to participate in the Sweepstakes, you must be: (a) a Registered User; (b) a legal resident of one (1) of the fifty (50) United States, Washington D.C., (for purposes of clarity, Puerto Rico is expressly excluded); and (c) at least eighteen (18) years of age or older or age of majority in your state of residence at the date of entry in this Sweepstakes.
For purposes of these Official Rules, "Registered User" means a person who has successfully completed the registration form by entering all required user information and has successfully entered selections for all nine tournament games in either Sweepstakes on HL Sweepstakes website which will be available through horizonleague.com/challenge, horizonleague.com and HL social media pages on Facebook and Twitter.
If you are not a Registered User you may become a Registered User by completing registration form by going to horizonleague.com/challenge or horizonleague.com and clicking on the Sweepstakes link. There is no fee or charge to you to become a Registered User.
Employees of Horizon League, Inc., member institutions of the Horizon League, WebStream Productions and TGFI, Inc. (collectively, the "Sweepstakes Entities") and each of their parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies and members of the immediate family or household of each are not eligible to win. Immediate family member is defined as a parent, sibling or any person residing in the same household as an employee of the Sweepstakes Entities. Void where prohibited by law. Users can sign up for notification by visiting the Horizon League web site prior to the start of the Sweepstakes on March 2, 2013 and may make selections following the announcement of seeds. Participants will be asked to go to the URL: http://horizonleague.com/challenge and follow the onscreen instructions (the "Onscreen Instructions") in order to enter. Onscreen Instructions are incorporated by reference in these Official Rules.
Personally identifiable information that is submitted by Entrants as part of this Promotion will be used to administer the Promotion, select prize winners and fulfill prizes, and will be treated in accordance with Sponsor's privacy policy accessible on its website at horizonleague.com.
After you sign up, you will have access to an on-line bracket page listing all 10 HL teams and their opening round or quarterfinal round match-ups.
Participants must enter their projected winners of all nine (9) games of the Tournament, round by round. Beginning with round two, the Administrator will weigh predictions for each successive round more heavily than the previous round in accordance with the table below. Points will be awarded by multiplying your number of correct predictions of winning teams in each round of the Sweepstakes by the weight assigned to each applicable round. For example, you would receive ten (10) points for two correct predictions of winning teams in the opening round, and 48 points for four correct predictions of winning teams in the quarterfinal. You will receive an individual score for each of the four Tournament rounds; and an overall score, which is the combined total of your individual round scores.

Participants will also enter their projected combined score (meaning the total score of both teams) for the championship game. The difference of the projection (regardless of whether the projection is higher or lower) and the actual combined score will be used for purposes of breaking ties in scoring if multiple players end with the same total score.
For example if multiple players end with a score of 150, the difference between the Participant's projected combined score in the championship game will be subtracted from their score.

Actual combined score in the championship game: 75
Points to be subtracted from Total Score: 15
Final score for tie-breaking purposes: 135
In the event that the Participant's predicted combined championship game score does not break a scoring tie, the Grand Prize(s) winner(s) will be randomly drawn by the HL.

Prize drawing will be held on or around Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Two grand prizes (the "Grand Prizes") will be awarded. The Grand Prizes will be awarded to the top-scoring participant in each Sweepstakes or to a randomly-selected participant in the event of a tie score, as described in the Prizes section of these Official Rules.
Odds of winning the Prize depend on the number of eligible participants and the outcomes of the 2013 HL Men's Basketball Tournament and the 2013 HL Women's Basketball Tournament. Potential Prize Winner will be notified by phone and/or by email.
All participants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and the Legal Disclaimers below, and by the decisions of HL, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to the game.
By entering, each entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by these rules and by the decisions of HL, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize Winner. No substitution or transfer of the Grand Prize is permitted except by HL. HL reserves the right to substitute the Grand Prize for one of equal or greater value in the event that an advertised Grand Prize is unavailable.
Potential Grand Prize winner will be required to sign and return, within thirty (30) days of issuance, the Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity/Liability Release, except where prohibited by law. Failure to return such documents within the specified time period, noncompliance with these Official Rules, the return of any prize or prize notification or if any potential winner declines the Grand Prize for any reason, such person may be disqualified, and an alternate Grand Prize Winner may be selected via random drawing in accordance with these Official Rules (as applicable).
Except where prohibited by law, the Grand Prize Winner's acceptance of the Grand Prize constitutes permission for the Sweepstakes Entities to use Grand Prize Winner's name, photograph, likeness, statements, biographical information, voice, and address (city and state) worldwide and in all forms of media, in perpetuity, without further compensation. Entrants agree to Commissioner's use of their names and likeness for advertising and publicity purposes, without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.

HL is not responsible for lost, late or misdirected on-line entries or transactions, for incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete entry information whether caused by a contestant, equipment, or technical malfunction or for any human error, technical error or malfunctions. HL reserves the right to halt or modify the Sweepstakes at any time during the Sweepstakes period if events beyond their control compromise the Sweepstakes fairness or integrity. In the event that a scheduled game is canceled or preempted for any reason, no points will be awarded for that week for players on the affected NCAA teams.
HL is not responsible for typographical or other human or technical errors in the offer or administration of this Sweepstakes, including but not limited to errors in advertising, the Official Rules, the selection and announcement of the Grand Prize Winner or the distribution of the Grand Prize.
HL, in its sole discretion, may disqualify any entrant from participating in the Sweepstakes, refuse to award points or the Grand Prize, and require the return of the Grand Prize, if entrant engages in any conduct HL deems to be improper, unfair or otherwise adverse to the operation of the Sweepstakes or detrimental to other entrants. In the event of a dispute, entries made by Internet will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. Any entry that is incomplete, late, or does not include a validly issued User ID will be disqualified.

The parties waive all rights to trial in any action or proceeding instituted in connection with these Official Rules, including, without limitation, the Sweepstakes. Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to these Official Rules and/or the Sweepstakes shall be settled by binding arbitration in accordance with the commercial arbitration rules of the American Arbitration Association. Any such controversy or claim shall be arbitrated on an individual basis, and shall not be consolidated in any arbitration with any claim or controversy of any other party.
