Indianapolis – Youngstown State junior Bill Gaffney (Buffalo, N.Y.) has been named the Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Cleveland State junior Allyson Hackman (Brownstown, Ind.) and Green Bay junior Sammi Grunder (Pardeeville, Wis.) have been named co-Women’s Golfers of the Week for the period of March 22-25.

Gaffney posted back-to-back rounds in the 60s to place 13th out of 159 competitors at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va. The junior opened with a 77 in the first round to stand in 94th place, but regrouped to fire a 68 in the second round and a 69 in the third round as he surged up the leaderboard. He finished one shot back of placing in a tie for seventh.

Grunder and Hackman split co-Golfer of the Week honors after both players finished in a tie for third place at the Butler Spring Invitational in Avon, Ind. Hackman became just the second golfer in Green Bay history to break 70, as she recorded a second round score of 69 to finish with a two round score of 152. Grunder also had a strong second round performance as she shot an even-par 71 to move up the rankings. Her score of 71 was the best of her collegiate career.

Other Top Golfers (March 22-25):
Evan Bowser, Oakland – Bowser improved every round as he completed the ULM Wallace Jones Invitational with a scorecard of 73-72-71—216 to finish in a tie for 11th place.
Kelsey Jensen, UIC – Jensen shot a second-round score of 73 as she finished in fifth place at the Butler Spring Invitational. Her 73 is the second-lowest score in program history.
Joey Krecic, Cleveland State – Krecic shot a three-round total of 220 to finish in a tie for 36th place at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate.
Tyler Schmidt, Green Bay – Schmidt finished in a tie for 18th place at the Butler Spring Invitational.
Sarah Thompson, Detroit – Thompson recorded her eighth top-20 performance as she tied for 11th at the Butler Spring Invitational.
Eric Winters, Valparaiso – Winters was the top Crusader at the ULM Wallace Jones Invitational, finishing a tie for 23rd place with a three-round total of 221.
