INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State seniors Jason Bruns and Emilie Fillion each received 100 percent of the vote and were named the Horizon League’s Scholar-Athletes of the Month for September 2012.
Bruns paced the Raiders in three September races and had two top-10 finishes: fifth at the Queen City Invitational and sixth at the Friendship Invitational. The senior also finished 12th at the Flyer 5K Challenge.
An accountancy major, Bruns carries a 3.837 GPA and was named to the 2011-12 Academic All-Horizon League Team. After being named to the Horizon League Honor Roll and Wright State Honor Roll and Dean’s List, Bruns was presented with the 2011-12 Dr. Carl Benner Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.
Fellow Raiders senior Fillion scored game-winning goals against Ohio and Mount Vernon in September. The forward also netted Wright State’s lone goal versus Denver and dished out assists against Mount Vernon and IUPUI.
In the classroom, the psychology major carries a 3.862 GPA and has been named to the Horizon League Honor Roll as well as the Wright State Honor Roll and Dean’s List.
