Women's Basketball Tournament Games Blog  Adam Coppinger · March 21, 2010

Butler isn't the only team from the Horizon League that's dancing this spring. Both Green Bay and Cleveland State are gearing up for their turn in the women's tournament.

The #15 seeded Cleveland State Vikings have the unenviable task of going against Notre Dame in South Bend. (2:30 ET Sunday) Notre Dame has a very balanced offensive attack and it will take a strong team defensive effort to hold the Irish down. Skylar Diggins is their leading scorer as a freshman. It will be up to the senior-led Vikings to use all the crafty tricks in the book to upset ND. If there's a silver lining for CSU it's that they're shooting better now than they have all season and the three point line is a big equalizer in the tournament.

#12 seed Green Bay takes on the #5 seed Virginia at 7:21 ET on Sunday. Virginia is a fellow at-large team (had to sneak that in) and they're led by senior guard Monica Wright. She'll garner a lot of attention from the Phoenix who have struggled at times against good guards. Wright is certainly that. She is an All-American averaging 23.3 ppg and an impressive 6.4 rebounds/game for a 5-11 guard. Obviously stopping her is a big key for the Phoenix.

Both of these teams deserve lots of support and appreciation for putting the Horizon League on the map as a two-bid league. Mid-major women's basketball is a tough road and each of these teams have rewarded all of us that have followed them from the beginning.
