Leading up to Motor City Madness, the Horizon League will provide weekly leads as to What’s Happening in Detroit (WHID).  The 2017 Little Caesars Basketball Championships will take place at Joe Louis Arena in the heart of Detroit, Mich.

This week the focus is art in Detroit. Where 90+ Metro Detroit art groups who celebrate contemporary Detroit art. Once a month, the city will host a hop on Third Thursdays.

Inspired by nighttime arts festivals from around the world, DLECTRICITY, Detroit’s new nighttime, contemporary light art festival, hosted 35 local, national and international artists whose cutting edge works of art and installations illuminated the historic architecture of Midtown on October 5 and 6, 2012. Produced by Midtown Detroit, Inc. and Art Detroit Now, an impressive selection of artists lit up Midtown Detroit and transformed the Woodward corridor into an illuminated urban spectacle for thousands of visitors of all ages during this free, two-night first-time event. The 2nd Edition of DLECTRICITY took place in October 2014.
