INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee junior Danielle Wenger has been named the Horizon League Women’s Swimmer of the Week, while Youngstown State freshman Casey Hill has claimed Women’s Diver of the Week honors for the period of Feb. 1-Feb. 7.
Wenger set two new pool records in a home meet against defending conference champion Green Bay this past weekend. Her winning times of 5:04.31 and 10:19.05 helped her squad to a near upset over the Phoenix, losing the meet by just one point. The Hartford, Wis. native, nabs her first award of the season and the second of her career.
Hill ended the regular season with two dominating performances at the YSU Diving Invitational on Sunday. Her three-meter win bested last year’s NCAA Division II Champion with a score of 293.25. The Bethlehem, Pa., native, tallied 284.45 from the one-meter height to place second. Both scores were the highest by a Penguin since the 2004 season and qualifies her for the NCAA Zone Diving competition in March. This laurel marks the second for Hill this season.
