INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee senior Cole Kraft and UIC freshman Collin Weyer have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of May 9-15.
Kraft picked up Batter of the Week accolades for the second straight week after going 9-for-18 (.500) at the plate with six RBIs and three runs on the week. He went 5-for-9 with five RBIs to help Milwaukee win the series with Valparaiso. He also registered a .722 slugging percentage and .526 on-base percentage for the Panthers.
The infielder, a native of Monomonie, Wis., was Milwaukee’s leading hitter for the week and has not struck out since April 29, extending his streak to over 45 at bats.
Weyer notched Pitcher of the Week honors after throwing a complete-game (9 inn.) two-hitter against Cleveland State, facing the minimum 27 batters. He struck out a career-high five while picking up his first ever Horizon League victory over the Vikings.
The right-hander, a native of Milwaukee, Wis. also started against Northwestern last week striking out two in a no-decision.
UIC will travel to West Lafayette on Tuesday for a make-up game against Purdue, while Milwaukee will host Northern Illinois. Both games are scheduled at 4pm ET.
