Highlights & Storylines ...

 The season's first League games highlight this week's action, beginning Thursday with Loyola at Green Bay, UIC at Milwaukee, Youngstown State at Detroit and defending champion Cleveland State at Wright State. Preseason favorite and #23/20 Butler opens conference play Saturday at home against Valparaiso.

 Green Bay (6-2) became the first Horizon League team to reach six wins with victories at North Dakota State (71-62) and North Dakota (67-41) ... The Phoenix is 5-1 in road and neutral-site games this season.

 Milwaukee trailed by five points with 1:16 remaining in regulation but rallied for a 90-83 overtime victory Saturday at Bowling Green behind 17 points from Deonte Roberts ... The Panthers (5-2) have now won four straight games.

 Loyola extended its winning streak to four games with an 81-42 victory Saturday over St. Ambrose ... Sophomore Walt Gibler led the Ramblers (4-1) with 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench.

 Valparaiso sophomore Brandon Wood exploded for a League season-high 39 points on 13-of-18 shooting in the Crusaders' 97-89 win at Georgia Southern Friday ... Wood also has scored 25 at Ball State and 30 at North Carolina.
