It is that time of year again. Finals are nearing and only 2 and a half weeks of softball left!
This week I would like to congratulate my teammate, Amanda Macenko, for winning the honor of Horizon League Pitcher of the Week. She went 5-1 in the circle this past week and earned her 30th win of the season. On the batting side, Loyola’s Jenna Grim earned the honor of Horizon League Batter of the week. She was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle in a win over Northwestern and batted .467 on the week with 4 home runs and 8 RBIs. Great Job ladies!
The rain held off in Cleveland for the weekend and I think we set a record for tarping and untarping the field 7 times over the weekend. The Vikings took 3 games from the Bulldogs. Valparaiso took 2 games from Loyola with the final game being rained out. Wright State took 3 games from Green bay and then 3 more from Valpo to move into 2nd place. UIC also took 3 games from Youngstown State.
For myself and two of my teammates, Amanda Macenko and Mimi Mahon, these will be our last few weeks on the field. And for myself, these will be my last few weeks in Cleveland. :( Graduation is finally here and it is time to be a real adult. Boy does that sound scary!
Senior Day is coming up for everyone in the league and if you’re part of the CSU softball team, you know what that means: A HUG FROM COACH! This is a big deal for our team, as hugs are only given out under special circumstances. We are a special team, as I’m sure you will come to find out, if you weren’t already aware.
One hug was already given out this past weekend, as I’d like to say a HUGE congratulations to my teammate Kala Allred, who became engaged to her boyfriend! Coach gave her a huge hug and even got a bit teary-eyed! JEALOUS... of both the ring and the hug! Don’t worry Mimi and Amanda, our hugs will come soon!
Well, lots of homework to do this week, so I am cutting this one short!
GOOD LUCK, PLAY HARD & LEAVE IT ALL ON THE FIELD!!!
