INDIANAPOLIS – UIC midfield Oscar Gonzalez scored three goals and an assist in two games leading him to earn this week’s Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week. Milwaukee goalkeeper Freddy Lorenzen posted back-to-back shutouts and has been named this week’s Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week.

Oscar Gonzalez scored three goals and added an assist as UIC went 2-0 during the week. Gonzalez had the first goal of the game in both of UIC’s wins. Against Northern Illinois, he spun in traffic and unleashed a shot that gave the Flames a 1-0 lead. Later, he assisted on the insurance goal in UIC’s 3-1 win. Gonzalez struck in the 17- minute against IUPUI, bending a ball from 20 yards out that curled inside the far post. After the Jaguars pulled to within a goal in the 61st minute, he responded just 18 seconds later with a heavy shot from outside the box to make the final score 4-2. Gonzalez leads the Flames in goals (4) and points (12) on the season.

Freshman Freddy Lorenzen (Elmshorn, Germany) had a fantastic week in goal for the Panthers, posting back-to-back shutouts. He recorded 6 saves as the Panthers claimed the "Milwaukee Cup" against Marquette midweek and followed that with a pair of stops in a big victory over NKU on the weekend.
