Sophomore Artem Vasheshnikov of Detroit Mercy has been named the Horizon League Men's Tennis Player of the Week and UIC sophomore, Bianca Zuzu has been recognized as the Horizon League Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Zuzu clinched UIC’s 4-3 victory after going into a tiebreaker within her second set and coming out on top, 6-1, 7-6 (2). The win improves the Flames to 4-2 on the season, also resulting in the juniors’ fourth singles victory of the year and second in straight sets. Zuzu is now the only player to be undefeated at home this season for the Flames.
Artem Vasheshnikov / Detroit Mercy / Sophomore / Kiev, Ukraine
Vasheshnikov led the Titans with a pair of wins from the top lines in Detroit Mercy’s 7-0 win over Illinois State. In doubles, Vasheshnikov picked up a 6-4 win from the first position. After falling in the first set of No. 1 singles (2-6), he bounced back with a 6-4 win in the second and finished off the comeback with a 7-5 win in the third set.
Kathleen Hebble & Paige Heuer / Valparaiso
Hebble and Heuer squeaked out a 7-6(5) win at No. 1 doubles against Evansville. The duo upped their record to 8-6 this season and have now notched back-to-back victories for the Crusaders.
Matthew Kritzinger & Joao Garreto / Youngstown State
After a strong weekend performance, Kritzinger and Garreto help the Penguins improve to 6-1 at home and 7-4 overall on the season. The duo teamed up to go 3-0, defeating Toledo, St. Bonaventure, and Carnegie Mellon in doubles play.
