INDIANAPOLIS - Milwaukee sophomore Paul Hoenecke and Wright State senior Alex Kaminsky have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of March 1-7. Hoenecke earns the first weekly honor in his career, while Kaminsky records his second.

Hoenecke picks up Batter of the Week accolades after going 9-for-14 (.643) with six doubles, one homer, seven runs and nine RBI in five games last week. He also registered a 1.286 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage for the Panthers.

The infielder, a native of West Bend, Wis., recorded three multi-hit efforts during the stretch and now owns a .484 season average. He went 3-for-3 with five RBI on Saturday in a victory over SIU-Edwardsville.

Kaminsky notches Pitcher of the Week honors after allowing just one run over seven innings on Friday in Wright State's 2-1 upset of top-ranked Virginia. He issued just one walk and scattered seven hits while striking out seven for the Raiders.

The right-hander, a native of Fostoria, Ohio, helped WSU knock off the nation's top collegiate baseball team for a second straight campaign. The Raiders also topped #1 Georgia on March 24, 2009.

Milwaukee (4-5) is idle until a Friday-Saturday-Sunday series at Arkansas. Wright State (3-7) opens its home slate on Friday against Oakland and then hosts Indiana State in a Saturday doubleheader.

Hoenecke and Kaminsky will become eligible for the Horizon League Network's "People's Choice" award, which is announced each Thursday afternoon. Log on to www.HorizonLeagueNetwork.tv to vote.
