Valparaiso 48, Wright State 63

Despite shooting just 28 percent from the field for the game, the Wright State women's basketball team gradually pulled away for a 63-48 Horizon League victory over Valparaiso Thursday night at the Wright State Nutter Center, extending its winning streak to 10 straight.

Both teams came out cold as neither scored until Meredith Hamlet put the Crusaders up 2-0 with a jumper at the 4:26 mark of the first quarter.  The Raiders went out in front for good at 6-4 on a Chelsea Welch layup and an Emily Vogelpohl jumper and took an 8-4 margin into the second stanza following two Lexi Smith foul shots.


UIC 49, Northern Kentucky 66

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball got back in the win column on Thursday night, taking down Horizon League opponent UIC, 66-49. With the win, the Norse sweep the regular season series with the Flames and advance to 8-16 on the season and 4-8 in League play. UIC dips to 4-20 (1-12 HL) with the loss.


Cleveland State 60, Green Bay 79

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women’s basketball team bounced back with a dominant 79-60 victory over Cleveland State on Thursday night at the Kress Events Center. Jessica Lindstrom led all scorers with 24 points on the evening and added 10 rebounds to notch her 11th double-double of the season.

Green Bay (20-4, 11-2) was even with Cleveland State (12-12, 7-6) at the conclusion of the first quarter, as the Vikings shot 60% (9-15) to open the game and match the Phoenix total of 21 points. Ashanti Abshaw scored 10 points in the first quarter for the Vikings on a 4-of-5 shooting clip.


Youngstown State 82, Milwaukee 86

MILWAUKEE – Steph Kostowicz went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line in the final 1:15 of the game to help ice an 86-82 win for the Milwaukee women's basketball team over a hot-shooting Youngstown State squad Thursday evening from the Klotsche Center.

YSU (8-16, 4-9 Horizon) shot a season-best 56.4 percent from the floor, including connecting on 13 three-pointers, only to see Milwaukee (16-8, 8-5 Horizon) respond with a 55.2 shooting percentage of their own – also a season best – in the big home win.
