INDIANAPOLIS - Loyola junior Jenna Grim has been named the Horizon League Softball Batter of the Week, while Cleveland State senior Amanda Macenko has earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending April 25.
Grim had a huge week as she batted .467 (7-for-15) with four home runs, a double and eight RBI, while also posting a 1.333 slugging percentage and a .529 on-base percentage. In Loyola's 3-2 victory at Northwestern, the team's first over the Wildcats in Evanston since 1998, Grim fell a triple shy of hitting for the cycle, going 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI as she homered for the third consecutive game.
From the mound, Macenko posted a 5-1 record last week as her Vikings are just one win away from tying the conference record for wins in a season at 17. The senior put in 37 innings of work and struck out 44 batters, improving her record to 14-2 in league action and 30-11 overall. Macenko is just the second pitcher in Horizon League history to win 30 games in a season, and her 110 career wins rank her 25th on the NCAA career wins list. Her 14th Horizon League weekly softball honor is a league record.
