HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Youngstown State sophomore Emily Rohanna was fourth and junior Allison Mitzel was fifth at the RMU Colonial Classic which concluded on Tuesday at The Club at Shadow Lakes. The Penguins placed third as a team.

Rohanna fired a 77 on Tuesday following Monday's opening round of 82. Her two-round 157 left her in fourth place for the event moving up from seventh after round one. Mitzel finished fifth with a two-round total of 161 following an 80 on Tuesday. She had an 81 on Monday.

The Penguins had two scores of 327 and had a total of 654 for the two-day tournament. Saint Francis (Pa.) won with a 640 while Roberts Morris finished second with a 645. Niagara was fourth and Point Park placed fifth.

Youngstown State returns to action on Oct. 14-15 when it competes in the Toledo Rocket Classic.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-Sophomore Katie Pokrandt (Eau Claire, Wis.) carded an 83 on Tuesday as the Green Bay women’s golf team concluded play at the Butler Fall Invitational in Indianapolis. It was the second-straight 83 for Pokrandt, who finished the 36-hole event in 30th place.

Held at Highland Golf and Country Club in Indianapolis, the Butler Fall Invitational also featured teams from Evansville, Green Bay, Indiana State, Eastern Illinois, Valparaiso, IUPUI, Loyola, Purdue and Butler.

With a team score of 685, Green Bay finished the tournament in a tie for eighth place. Led by individual medalist Aurora Kim, Purdue won the 10-team tournament with a score of 595.

The UIC women’s golf team competed in its sixth event of the Fall season and placed in a tie for eighth (685). Junior Ryann Gilley was the Flames’ best finisher as she placed in a tie for 21st with a 36-hole total of 161.

“Ryann Gilley continues her solid play again leading the Flames,” said UIC head coach Carol Rhoades. “Angela Shin is making significant progress returning from injury. We learned a lot this event about ourselves and will evaluate our performance, refocus our efforts in our quest to improve within the Horizon League.”

UIC is off next weekend and the Flames conclude their Fall season at Dayton’s Flyer Invitational (Oct. 21-22).

Valparaiso finished tied for eighth place, improving by 17 strokes on Tuesday to finish with a 36-hole score of 685.

Shrum posted Valpo's top tournament between the two events, improving by four shots on Tuesday to post a final-round score of 75. Her 36-hole total of 154, tied for the fifth-lowest 36-hole event score in program history, was good for a tie for sixth place in the 62-golfer field.

The 2013 fall schedule continues for the Valparaiso women's golf team early next week as the Crusaders travel to Springfield, Mo. to take part in the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial for a second consecutive season.

DEKALB, Ill. - At The 2013 Preview, it was Kleckner who would lead the Crusaders, as the senior finished with a final-round 80 to conclude the event in a tie for 28th place at 161. Senior Kelly Voigt (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) posted a 36-hole score of 165 to finish in a tie for 43rd.

Toledo won the tournament by seven shots over host Ball State, shooting 611 (+35). BSU's Jenna Hague earned medalist honors with an overall score of 3-over-par (147).

The 2013 fall schedule continues for the Valparaiso women's golf team early next week as the Crusaders travel to Springfield, Mo. to take part in the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial for a second consecutive season.

Julia Montgomery carded a final round 77 to finish in a tie for 22nd place (160/+16) to lead the Oakland women's golf team. The Golden Grizzlies finished 12th with an overall score of 662.

"Julie's (Montgomery) been playing well for the last week or so and if it wasn't for a poor putting round yesterday, she would've been in good shape for a top-10 finish," said OU coach Russ Cunningham. "Wet and windy conditions made it difficult, but a player with a confident short game would do fine."

Elizabeth Dawkins recorded the second-lowest score for Oakland on the final day, posting a round of 80. Kassandra Komma tallied a score of 83 to finish the tournament in a tie for 35th place (163/+19).

The Golden Grizzlies will conclude the fall season next Monday and Tuesday at the Rocket Classic. The tournament will be held on Catawba Island Club in Toledo, Ohio

The Cleveland State women's golf team concluded play at The Preview on Tuesday, carding a final round 358.

Sophomore Allyson Hackman tied for 47th place with rounds of 80-86 (166), while junior Colleen Miller tied for 77th place at 176 with a pair of 88's.
Cleveland State will conclude the fall schedule when the Vikings compete at the Toledo Rocket Classic on Oct. 14-15 in Catawba Island, Ohio.

HEBRON, Ky. - The Youngstown State men's golf team finished sixth out of 16 teams in a strong field at the UC Bearcat Invitational which wrapped up action on Tuesday at the Traditions Golf Club.

The Penguins had a three-round score of 885 finishing with a final round 301 and a second-round 289. All golfers started their second rounds on Monday before action was suspended because of darkness. Austin Peay won the team title with an 862 while Marshall was second and Cincinnati was third. The Guins were tied for fourth following the second round.

Sophomore Brandon Pluchinsky led the way with a 220 following rounds of 72, 72 and 76 for the tournament. Bryan Yeo was 18th with a 221 carding scores of 71, 78 and 72.

Gaffney's secon-round 67 was the best individual round of the tournament.

YSU concludes its fall campaign on Oct. 14-15 at the Dayton Flyer Invitational.

Cleveland State shot a final round 302 and finished seventh of 16 teams.

Senior Andrew Bailey finished with a one-over-par 73 and placed fourth with a 54-hole total of three-under-par 213. It was Bailey's third top-five finish in four events this fall and he has posted rounds of par or better in nine of his 12 rounds.

Sophomore Mitchell Moore tied for 40th place with a 54-hole total of 226 (74-75-77), while freshman Pat Luth tied for 49th place at 229 (76-75-78).

The Vikings had a 54 hole total of 886 (295-289-302).

The Vikings conclude the fall season when CSU competes at the UD Flyer Invitational on Oct. 14-15.

Senior Brendan Leonard ended the fall with his third top-20 finish as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team closed its fall season.

The Titans finished the event in 11th with a 903, tallying a 301 in all three rounds. UDM was just two strokes out of a top-10 finish.

"We did some good things out there, but we just didn't have it," said head coach Mark Engel. "We played some holes well at times, but we were inconsistent too and we will improve on that."

Leonard led Detroit by tying for 18th with a 221 (73-73-75), finishing the second round with a 1-over 73 before carding a 3-over 75 on the final 18. He concluded the fall season leading the team with a 72.4 average, including three top-20 efforts and a pair of top-10 marks.

Freshman Kyle Gaines shared 32nd with a 224 (76-72-76), posting the best round on the squad with an even-par 72 in round two.

"We had some good scores out there, but we just couldn't get them all together," said Coach Engel. "This is the fall season and hopefully the weather stays warm and we can get in some more practice as we get ready for the spring."

The Wright State golf team tied for 13th place.

Ryan Wenzler led the way for the Raiders as he tied for 28th with a three-round score of 223 (72-76-75).

The Raiders end the fall schedule next Monday and Tuesday, October 14-15, at the Dayton Invitational.

Mark Foster shot a career-best tying score of 69 in his second round, while Evan Bowser posted a 1-under-par score of 71 in the third round to lead the Oakland men's golf team. The Golden Grizzlies finished in a tie for 13th place with Horizon League foe Wright State with a score of 908 (+44).

"As a team we improved each round so that helped," said OU coach Russ Cunningham. "Overall, we had way too many big numbers to post any respectable team scores. Bryan (VandenBerg) has been swinging really well, but struggling with making a big number or two each round."

Bowser led the way with a tie for 32nd-place finish, posting an overall score of 224 (+8). Foster ended the tournament in a tie for 40th place with a score of 226 (+10).

The Golden Grizzlies wrap-up the fall with this tournament. Their next competition will be the Leatherneck Invitational on Feb. 10-11 in San Diego, Calif.
"This team should be highly motivated this winter to work hard at being the consistent talented team I know we can be," said Cunningham.

HARTFORD, Wis.– The Green Bay men’s golf team concluded play in the Erin Hills Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon, finishing in 12th place in the competitive 14-team field. Led by individual medalist Patrick Rodgers, Stanford completed the 54-hole event in 13-under par.

The tournament concluded a successful fall season for the Phoenix which included three tournament victories and two Horizon League Player of the Week awards.

Green Bay shot a 317 on Tuesday at Erin Hills Golf Course, finishing the event at 922. Sophomore Gene Kiela (Plymouth, Wis.) led the Phoenix in a tie for 45th place (71-78-78-227).
