Denk and Legg Named Cross Country Athletes of the Week Release  Horizon League · September 6, 2010

INDIANAPOLIS -- Butler University sophomore Kirsty Legg and University of Illinois at Chicago junior Brian Denk have been named Horizon League Cross Country Athletes of the Week for the period of Aug. 31 – Sept. 6.

Legg, a native of Middlesborough, U.K., finished first out of 33 competitors at the Illini Challenge in Urbana, Ill. on Friday (Sept. 3). She ran a 4K time of 14:16.0, missing the course record time by only 5 seconds.

Denk, a native of Darien, Ill., placed first out of 48 runners at the UIC Home Opener on Saturday (Sept. 4). He ran a 4.1 mile course in a time of 20:41.1, leading the UIC Flames win over conference rivals University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

The Flames finished first in a 5-team men's field with 86 points, while the Lady Bulldogs also took first in a 5-team women's field.

Both squads are back in action on Sept. 17. UIC will be competing at the Illinois Challenge in Normal, Ill. while Butler will compete in the Indiana Challenge in Terre Haute, Ind.
