INDIANAPOLIS –Cleveland State senior Nena Doran (Ypsilanti, Mich.) is the Horizon League softball Player of the Week for the week of March 3-8. This is the third honor Doran has collect thus far this season.

Cleveland State competed in Canton, Ga. over the weekend for a five-game road swing where the team tabbed a 3-1 record. On Saturday, the Vikings swept their games for the day with a 3-0 win over Eastern Illinois and an 11-3 run-rule victory against Northern Kentucky. The following day the squad fell to Saint Louis 4-2 but bounced back to defeat Northern Kentucky 10-2 to close out the weekend contests.

Doran led the Vikings at the plate with a .500 batting average over the five games in addition to her 1.357 slugging percentage and .533 on-base percentage. The senior notched seven hits in 14 at-bats while collecting a walk, five runs and five RBI. Doran launched four balls over the fence for Cleveland State and set a school single game record with three home runs against Northern Kentucky.

The Vikings have five games slated this coming week with action beginning today at 3:00 p.m. ET at Louisiana Tech. Cleveland State will also face Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Mississippi and Southern Louisiana over the next five days.

Top Players of the Week:
Abby Brinkmeier, Green Bay (So.): Hit for a .667 batting average on four hits in six at-bats for the Phoenix. Tabbed two RBI, one walk, one double and a home run during the two games.
Sarah Dowd, Youngstown State (So.): Posted a .417 batting average with seven runs scored, seven RBI, a double and two home runs. The sophomore also hit for a 1.00 slugging percentage and .579 on-base percentage. One of her two home runs was a grand slam for the second of her career and 12th in program history.
Libby Pfeffer, Wright State (So.): Went 5-for-18 over six games for Wright State to tab a .278 batting average, .722 slugging percentage and .278 on-base percentage. Also posted two doubles, two home runs and five RBI for the Raiders.
