Brian Evak UIC Baseball

Hometown: Plainfield, Ill. Evak notched Pitcher of the Week honor after pitching five strong innings in UIC’s 14-6 win over Northwestern on Friday. Evak came into the game in the top of the fourth inning with the Flames clinging to a 7-6 lead. He shut down the Wildcats for the next five innings, striking out six and allowing only four hits as he was credited with the win in UIC’s series-clinching victory over Northwestern.

Hayden Joblin Wright State Tennis

Hometown: Brooklyn, New Zealand With two victories at No. 2 singles, Joblin continued his unbeaten mark in the spring, holding an 11-0 record. After teaming with Jamison Clark to win at No. 1 doubles, 9-7, Joblin recorded a key 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles against his opponent from Duquesne as the Raiders held on for the win. The following day, Joblin and Clark breezed to an 8-2 triumph at No. 1 doubles ahead of Joblin’s 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2.

Jessie Marinec Valparaiso Softball

Hometown: Alsip, Ill. On the week, Marinec went 8-for-19 (.421) with six runs scored and five RBIs. Thanks to her four home runs, which matched her career home run total, Marinec ended the week with a slugging percentage of 1.053.

Keali Engelkens Loyola Softball

Medium
Hometown: Milledgeville, Ill. Engelkens came on in relief in two of Loyola’s (3-8) wins last week, collecting victories as the Ramblers swept Wichita State, 5-3 and 9-6. The right-hander tossed 2.0 scoreless innings to earn the win in Game 1 before striking out one in 1.2 innings in Game 2. In 3.2 innings, Engelkens gave up just one hit.

Jeremy Banks Youngstown State Baseball

Hometown: Steubenville, Ohio Banks picked up Batter of the Week after batting .545 at the plate and helping YSU to its first victory of the season in last weekend’s three-game series at VMI. Banks reached base in 10-of-15 at-bats against VMI for an on-base percentage of .667. He homered three times in the series, doubled twice and drove in eight runs in the series. In YSU’s 10-2 win on Sunday, Banks hit a solo home run in the first inning and then hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth.
